Basic Tenets of Faith

Principles of Fiqh

what the Muslim must know and refrain from; what he cannot afford to be unaware of regarding acts of worship, interactions with others, customs and traditions, clothing, food, medicine, seeking medical treatment, and so on; and guidelines on deriving fiqhi rulings from religious texts.

Etiquette, Morals and Heart-Softeners

topics having to do with what the Muslim should seek to acquire of etiquette in his daily life (eating, drinking, sleeping and so on). This section also covers what the Muslim should develop of good characteristics, and points out the blameworthy characteristics that he should avoid when dealing with people. the beginning of creation and origin of creatures; events of the past; the life of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), his good attitude and kind treatment of people; characteristics of some individuals, groups and places.

Pedagogy education and upbringing

topics having to do with the best ways of disciplining and elevating one’s nafs (self) to attain levels of perfection; best ways of caring for children and protecting them from the dangers that surround them on all sides.

Islamic politics

topics having to do with caring for the best interests of the ummah and running its affairs, whether in terms of internal matters or its relationships with other nations, in accordance with the objectives of sharia (maqaasid ash-sharee‘ah).
