Scholars differed concerning the ruling on ‘Eid prayers: 1- it is a confirmed Sunnah; 2- it is a communal obligation; and 3- it is obligatory for men.

It is permissible to offer greetings and congratulations on ` `Eid, and there is no specific greeting. Rather the greetings that people customarily use are permissible so long as no sin is involved.

If a person misses ‘Eid prayer, it is recommended for him to pray ‘Eid prayer at home, so he should pray it in the proper manner but without a khutbah following it.
