1. Seeking medication is obligatory in cases where not giving medication could cause death, disability or the loss of a limb, or where the sickness is bound to spread if not treated, as in contagious diseases. 2. Treatment and medication are ways of utilizing the laws of cause and effect that Allah has incorporated into the running of the universe. 3. Seeking the patient’s permission depends on whether he is qualified to give it (i.e., he should be of sound mind, mature and responsible). If this is not the case, then the permission of his guardian should be sought, within the limits set by Shari`ah.

If it is proven and confirmed by a committee of trustworthy doctors that the foetus has Down syndrome, and that is before the pregnancy has reached 120 days, it is permissible to abort it. It is not permissible to abort it after 120 days.

The Quran is complete healing for all spiritual (mental) and physical diseases, and all ailments in this world and the Hereafter. If the sick person seeks treatment in the Quran in the proper manner, and applies it to his illness with sincerity and faith, and complete acceptance, and firm belief, fulfilling the necessary conditions, the illness will never resist it.

1- It is prohibited to treat sickness with things that are completely forbidden or impure such as treating sickness with Khamr. 2- If medicine is mixed with intoxicants and the amount of intoxicant is small, a number of scholars have ruled that it is permissible to take this type of medicine. if the amount of the intoxicating substance is large, it is not permissible to dispense the medicine to the patient. 3- If something that is prohibited has lost the characteristics because of which it was prohibited, it is permissible to take that medicine and it is permissible to prescribe it for patients. But if the trace of the prohibited substance is still there, it is not permissible to prescribe it or use it to treat sickness.

If the effect of alcohol in medicine and food is clear, it is haram to add it and it is haram to use these foods and medicines, whether they are eaten or drunk. If it has no effect when added to these foods and medicines, it is permissible to use them and eat or drink them.
