Fasting of the Traveler
Minimum Distance for Breaking Fast and Shortening Prayers
The distance which allows a traveller to break his fasting and shorten his prayers is approximately 80 km according to the view of the majority of scholars. This distance is called travelling according to the custom of the Muslims. So if a person travels by camel, car, plane or ship, for this distance or more, he is regarded as a traveller.334,528He is travelling to another country and will stay there for eight days to attend a course in which he needs to focus; can he break the fast?
