That is permissible for women, but for men it is not permissible if the watch is gold or gold-plated, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Gold and silk are permitted for the females of my ummah and forbidden for the males.” If it is imitation gold but is not really gold, it is still better for a man not to wear it, to protect his honour against accusations of going against the pure sharee’ah.
