Does she have the right to the second part of the dowry?

Question: 40370

Her husband divorced her on the grounds that she is suffering from a contagious disease, i.e. leprosy, but after visiting a number of doctors it became clear that what she has is not a disease and is not contagious, and it can be removed by laser. Does she have the right to ask for the second part of the dowry?.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. To proceed:

So long as it is not a deformity, she has the right to ask for the second part of her dowry.
