All of a woman is `Awrah in front of non-Mahram men. The opinion that a woman’s `Awrah in front of other women is from the navel to the knee applies only when she is in her house among her sisters and the women of her household. The basic principle is still that she should cover all of her body lest she be taken as an example and this evil practice become widespread among women.

Hijab is compulsory on all Muslim women who have reached the age of puberty. Many of the women of the Muhajirin and Ansar were known to be blessed with beauty, but no one thought that this ruling applied only to them and not to others.

A Muslim woman may wear whatever she wants, so long as she does not wear a colour that is only for men, and she does not wear a garment that is an adornment in itself.
