She passed her miqaat and entered ihram from a different miqaat

Question: 263306

I am a woman from Riyadh, and I was on a leisure trip with my husband in the Western region, and I had my monthly period. We went to al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, and in Madinah I said: If my period ends during this trip, I shall go for ‘umrah. After that we went to Yanbu‘ and then Jeddah, and in Jeddah the end of my period was approaching, and we intended to do ‘umrah. We went to as-Sayl and entered ihram from there, then we did ‘umrah. Do we have to do anything, seeing that we passed the miqaats of Madinah and Yanbu‘?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.

As you formed the intention to do ‘umrah and decided to go ahead with it in Jeddah, then what you should have done was enter ihram from there, as it became a miqaat for you.

But as you entered ihram from the miqaat of as-Sayl al-Kabeer, you do not have to do anything.

I showed this question to our shaykh, ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan al-Barraak, may Allah preserve him, and he replied:

She does not have to do anything, because she went back to a more distant miqaat, and because this was her original miqaat. End quote.

And Allah knows best.
