Working in a call centre belonging to a riba-based institution

Question: 148390

I have just began a new job within a call centre. What I do and
the service I provide is Halal which has nothing to do with
Riba or anything of the sort. However the branch I work in is a
department of a global investment Institution 'Macquarie
Bank' which provides Riba Services. Is my line of work Halal
or not?.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah.

If the call centre does permissible work, then it is permissible to work there, even if it is owned by an individual who deals in riba or belongs to an institution that offers riba-based services. That is for two reasons:

1.     What matters is that the nature of the work is permissible

2.     It is reported that some of the Sahaabah did work for the Jews, who deal in and consume riba.
