He is travelling from Madeenah to Jeddah by plane; how should he enter ihram for ‘umrah?

Question: 109293

If a person takes a plane from Madeenah to Jeddah and intends to do ‘Umrah, what should he do? Should he put on the ihram garments in the airport in Madeenah and intend to do ‘umrah from the moment he boards the plane, or what should he do?.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.

If you want to travel by plane from Madeenah to Makkah for ‘umrah, then it is prescribed for you to do ghusl and wudoo’ for prayer and put on your ihram; after the plane takes off from the airport, you should recite the talbiyah for ‘umrah. That should be before passing the miqaat for the people of Madeenah, which is Abaar ‘Ali.

And Allah is the source of strength; may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and Companions. End quote.
