Does Hitting Someone Break Your Fast?

Question: 108926

I work as a teacher and sometimes I have to hit or shout at the students, because all the teachers do that. I have tried to make myself not do that, but it happened today. Is the fast invalidated by hitting and shouting and getting angry?

Do you advise me to give up this profession because it leads to the lack of psychological instability, and it is affecting my worship of Allah because I feel guilty after hitting or shouting?

Please note that I would do that were it not for my mother who may be upset if I give it up.

Summary of answer

Hitting someone and shouting at someone are not things that break the fast even if it is done by way of aggression.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.

Hitting and shouting are not things that break the fast, even if it is done by way of aggression, so how about if the hitting and shouting are done for the purpose of discipline, teaching and directing? Undoubtedly in that case, it is clear that they do not break the fast.
