Ruling on listening to some useful programs that contain music

Question: 26887

What is the ruling on listening to some useful programs, such as news programs etc, which include music?.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. To proceed:

There is nothing wrong with listening to them and benefitting from them, so long as you turn the speakers down when the music begins, until it ends, because music is something which is prohibited. May Allaah help us to avoid it.
