My father owns a shop and forces me to sit in it all day long whilst he spends his day in the coffee shop. My friends are enjoying their youth, and I am deprived of that. He does not give me even a single dirham as wages for my work, and he does not let my friends sit with me. He is making my life miserable. Is it permissible for me to take something from his wealth without his knowledge?

Ruling on the son taking the standard wage for working in his father’s shop without his knowledge, if he withholds it from him
Question: 267324
Answer
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.
I put this question to our shaykh, ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan al-Barraak (may Allah preserve him) and he replied:
What appears to be the case is that it is permissible for him to take the standard wage from the income of the shop, because his father is depriving him of his dues.
And Allah knows best.
