Listening to the radio program Noor ‘ala al-Darb (Light on the Way) in the mosque

Question: 10092

Is it OK to listen to the radio program Noor ‘ala al-Darb (Light on the Way) in the mosque, instead of listening to the idle talk of some worshippers and thus preventing talking about worldly matters in the mosque?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.

There is a lot of good to be gained from listening to this great program, and many benefits. Allaah has made this program available to the Muslims so that they may benefit from it. It is like a study circle from which both men and women benefit whilst they are in their houses and gatherings and when resting on their couches. It is one of the great blessings of Allaah, and one of the means by which Allaah leaves the people with no excuse, for He has made it reach them in their homes, cars, airplanes and every other place.

I urge and advise every Muslim, man and woman, to benefit from this program, and to ask about things that they do not understand via this program.

There is nothing wrong with turning the radio on in the mosque to listen to this program and to gain knowledge through this program and others at appropriate times agreed upon by the group. If any music or anything that is not appropriate comes on, then turn it off.
